Take Charge of your Health, Life and Golf in 2010

Take Charge of your Health, Life and Golf in 2010…tips to improve your game and your life.

The first order of business is committing to changing the things in our life that haven’t been working in the past. We are all looking for a little more balance in our lives. We need to take baby steps so we can walk properly before we can run. I was so fortunate earlier in my career to have taught golf to two of leaders in Mind Body Medicine, Dr. Deepak Chopra and Dr. David Simon, co-founders of the Chopra Center for Well Being at the La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, California. For me 2001 was a year I clearly needed to make a change in my life and so I was fortunate to have these two amazing men come into my life and teach me life lessons that touched all aspects of me. Their guidance and tools will stay with me for the rest of my life. Over time I will be sharing many of these tools that I have learned from these great men along with many other amazing mentors along my path.

I first learned about meditation at the Chopra Center for Well Being which is an amazing tool for stress reduction or just being able to clear the mind of all the excess chatter/junk going on. I remember telling my meditation teacher that it seemed like my whole life in my head had been like a football game with constant noise. I wanted some peace from all that dialogue and noise. Walah! I finally had a tool that could help me get rid of the chatter and re-balance me to start fresh. It was exciting for me. I was starting off slowly, only 5 minutes, because I could do that and it felt like I was accomplishing something which is so important. At the beginning of each session, typically one in the morning and one in the evening I would set an intention or use an affirmation; which are words that can help you develop a powerful and positive attitude to life. A few positive words are all it takes to shift our mindset out of a negative state in life or with our golf game. To me those two are one in the same.

I would like to start the year off by helping you create a different MINDSET by the use of affirmations and setting intentions. My recommendation for 2010 is to make healthier choices in all aspects our lives. To play and perform in life and golf we need to feel good in all areas of our life be in balance. The choices we make on a day to day basis affect our state of mind and our physical being. Make sure you pick something easy at the beginning so you can accomplish it, stay with it and then feel the satisfaction. My philosophy in teaching the game of golf is no different, change should be easy, simple and repeatable. It should be painless and the message is delivered in such a way that it is easily received and easily changed. I believe in building a solid foundation from the beginning, one that can stand the test of time and be easily understood by all.

To me a happy balanced person will be the most successful golf student. It is my job as the teacher to give you the tools to be that person and then in turn be the best golfer you can be. I look forward to seeing you on the golf course!
